District Grand Council of East Midlands

The Order of the Allied Masonic Degrees of England and Wales
and Districts and Councils Overseas

Welcome to the East Midlands Allied Masonic Degrees Website – I am R.W. Bro. Steven Graeme Barratt, District Grand Prefect and I am delighted to welcome you to this Website, whether you are a member in my District, a visitor from another District, or a curious Brother who is contemplating joining this beautiful and interesting degree.

The AMD consists of five degrees, and all are very different, but wonderful in their own right, as you can gather from the description on another page so if this website ‘whets your whistle’, come and join us – you will be most welcome.

Christmas message and review of 2025 from the District Grand Prefect

As the Festive season approaches and we reflect on 2025, I (Phil Aitken District Grand Secretary) have asked our District Grand Prefect for his thoughts on the year.
Phil – So how has 2025 been for you as our District Grand Prefect?
Steve – Very busy but very pleased to see all our Councils are working hard.
Phil – Was there a highlight for you this year?
Steve – Many things within our District. How happy and productive all the Councils are, working for success. I am especially pleased and proud to see the district rally round to give the Golden Jubilee Council a second chance, I sincerely thank the brethren from all of the District, not just the joining members, but those who came out in support at the relaunch meeting in November.
Phil – We had another bumper AGM in August, with over 160 in the Temple. What’s the secret to our success?
Steve – I think the location of our meeting, and the timing has a lot to do with it, however, the DGP’s like the venue and it appears to suit most of them. They usually bring a few brethren with them, some of whom may even like me!!
Phil – How many District AGM’s did you attend this year on our behalf?
Steve – 16 District meeting including AMD week in Washington D.C.
Phil – You’ve had a number of brethren supporting you at AGM’s this year, that must be a real bonus for you?
Steve – It has been great to see a number of our brethren attending District Meeting, & its also great to see a number of brethren mentioned at District meetings. Our wardens have been very pro-active; however, EVERYONE is welcome to attend other District AGM’s if they have the time, we can always arrange car share, the more the merrier!
Phil – What are you doing for Christmas this year?
Steve – A quiet Christmas with family & friends. Thats said, I DO have a Masonic Meeting in another Order on 29-12-25.
Phil – Do you have a message for the Brethren
Steve – I hope that all the East Midlands Brethren have a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS & A PEACEFUL, HEALTHY NEW YEAR. And I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
I’m sure we all would like to return the gesture and wish Steve and his family a wonderful Christmas and a very successful 2026
